You were found
right before first position,
just for a while.
We brushed prayers out and up
for beauty not to be fleeting,
just for a while.
We rubbed our toes in your chalk
pictures on the driveway,
just for a while.
Our arms were extended,
flowing like a swan’s,
just for a while.
And we gathered you
under our wings,
just for a while,
because,
in a while
you will dance.
and she will dance! very nice poem, awesome photo! is that one you took?
No, I didn’t take it. A friend allowed me to use a picture of her daughter. The image was calling out…”Poem!”
Precious Jerry. Thank you!
My pleasure…
Beautiful — in all aspects!
first…your daughter is beautiful…and then…just love the verse…the protecting them to tender and help them learning to fly…loved the chalk part as well..
thanks claudia…not my daughter, but a friends. the image just called out…”poem”.
Oh, this makes me cry, so very touching… “just for a while” goes by so fast.
lovely man…this def is written with the heart of a parent to a child….and one day soon they will dance…heart felt man…
This has a real poignancy–one is very conscious here as in life that the “just for a while” is indeterminate–lovely poem – beautiful photo. K.
Captures the fleeting glimpse of childhood, and the hope of what the child might become and do. The picture is stunning in its simplicity. Excellent post!
